Did You Know?

  • The average house can be responsible for twice the greenhouse gas emissions as the average car.
  • The American household today spends about $1,900 a year on their energy bill.
  • By replacing your household products with Energy Star® products you can save nearly 30% or nearly $600 a year while preventing 6,500 pounds of greenhouse gases associated with global warming.
  • Clean Machine Doormats made with AstroTurf® are all about being "green" for years and years after the purchase!
  • You'll start saving energy as soon as you put our mats in front of your door.
  • All the other so called "green" mats have completed their savings as soon as they leave the factory.
  • The paradox of the Clean Machine Scraper Mat is the fact that it's a machine that does not consume energy ... It saves it!

GrassWorx, LLC

"learning from nature, improving lives"

GrassWorx, LLC., a St. Louis based, employee owned private company, started in 2009 after the purchase of the assets of the North American Plastic Products business from Solutia, Inc. The Company is the proprietary manufacturer of a wide range of plastic products including the famous AstroTurf® branded products.

Our CIM technology for manufacturing polyethylene grass created a unique doormat design over 45 years ago that continues to scrape, hold and hide dirt and debris in millions of homes. Simply stated, GrassWorx's portfolio of products and solutions are clean, green, safe and quiet. Using our products helps to create a cleaner and healthier environment.

Helping create a cleaner, healthier environment...

The GrassWorx tag line 'learning from nature, improving lives' is a reflection of the passion we feel about the products we produce. We know that using our products will help create a cleaner, healthier environment. But, today it seems like everybody is claiming to offer the path to a cleaner and healthier environment. What makes Clean Machine so unique?

Well, first of all, our patented blade design mimics the cleaning and scraping action of natural grass. Smart homeowners have known for years that the number one reason to buy a doormat is cleaning power. Our best selling doormat scrapes holds and hides about 1 pound of dirt per week. Think about it, the average home today has over 4 doors; this means that a Clean machine at every entry will keep over 200 pounds of dirt, per year, out of the house! Like many other companies, we use recycled materials (LDPE and rubber) in our manufacturing process, but we take a slightly different approach to "Green".

Clean Machine Doormats, made with AstroTurf® are all about being 'Green' for years and years after the purchase! They start saving energy when the're placed in front of a door. All the other 'green' doormats quit saving energy as soon as they leave the factory.

GrassWorx supports the principles of the LEED® program which encourages and accelerates the global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices on new and retrofit buildings. Through the LEED® program, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) offers a LEED® Credit (Green Cleaning - Indoor Chemical and Pollutant Source Control) designed to reduce the exposure of building occupants and maintenance personnel to potentially hazardous chemical, biological and particulate contaminants, that adversely affect air quality, human health, building finishes, building systems and the environment.

The LEED® Program outlines that a 'Green' building should employ permanent entryway systems, such as grilles, grates or MATS to capture and hold dirt and particulates entering the building at all public entry points in order to prevent contamination of the building interior.
